Nathon kicked off the case studies by sharing his financing experiences, which include an adventurous $8m raise during web 1.0 as well as his recent and more successful efforts to secure millions in financing for a web 2.0 game initiative (from a mix of public, private and angel investors). Tips and tricks learned the hard way from Toronto to Silicon Valley will be shared, followed by a discussion to be based on questions from the audience.

Early Bird Deadline Extended by Popular Demand

Interactive Ontario today announces that the  early-bird deadline for registrations for GameON: Finance has been extended over the holidays to end of day January 9, 2008. The early bird price offers about 20% savings off of the regular price.

"Although we are right on track for our projected attendance, we have been getting a lot of feedback that there are many people just finding out about GameON: Finance" says Ian Kelso, Executive Producer of the event. "We want to make sure they get the opportunity to take advantage of our great prices."

The GameON: Start-up Pass has also been extremely popular and qualified companies should apply immediately due to  limited availability. The pass is reserved solely for small game development companies with 5 employees or less. 

 
BioWare's head of finance to reflect on an independent studio's path to success
ImageRichard Iwaniuk, Director of Business Development at BioWare will deliver a keynote presentation at GameON: Finance, Canada’s first conference dedicated to video games financing.  Iwaniuk will speak about the challenges and opportunities growing an independent game development studio in light of changing and transformative markets.  Recently named one of Gamasutra’s Top 5 Developers of 2007, BioWare, which was founded in 1995, has sold over 20 million copies of their popular game titles worldwide.
